Crumlin Integrated College held their annual prize giving events on Thursday 28 September 2023. Due to the increasing number of students within the college it was necessary to hold two events, Key Stage students were celebrated on during our morning session with a movie, treats and a ceremony which parents and carers were invited to; and senior students were celebrated during the evening event with parents, governors and invited guests.
The events were well attended by staff, pupils, parents, community, political and educational representatives. It was noted that the event was a very positive one, with evidence of the knowledge of and care we have for each individual student. At the College we recognise not only our students’ academic achievement but also their endeavour, progress and attitude to studies and those around them.
During the event music was provided by one of our Year 9 students, Ellie Webber, who gave a solo flute performance. We also heard from our Principal, Mr. Niall O’Hara, who delivered a report on the progress of the College over the past year and our continually growing need for a post-sixteen provision. The IEF, political representatives and educational representatives were thanked for their continued support and called upon to continue to work alongside us as we seek to build upon the improvements made over recent years.
Our most prestigious awards of the McConnell Cup for Senior Boy of the Year and the Somerset Cup for Senior Girl of the Year were awarded to Robert Gould and Ruby McElhatton respectively. We are incredibly proud as a college to have had two pupils leave us, having developed into the caliber of young people they are today.
