The study of geography is about more than just memorizing places on a map. It’s about understanding the complexity of our world, appreciating the diversity of cultures that exists across continents. (And in the end, it’s about using all that knowledge to help bridge divides and bring people together.) “

The overall aims of the Geography Department are to stimulate at all levels an ability and interest in the subject and also to develop an awareness, knowledge and respect for the environment from the local to the global scale.
We study a broad range of topics throughout the key stage 3 curriculum on all aspects of Geography including human, physical and environmental geography. We offer engaging and challenging lessons to empower our students to become global citizens who we hope will make a positive contribution to society. By developing thinking skills we ask our students to manage information and use evaluative skills to respond to and improve ideas on the challenges faced including looking at the ways we manage and protect coasts, to how we can reduce our carbon footprint, as well and thinking about creative ways to plan cities which integrate our ability to live sustainably within the environment. We build skills and knowledge that pupils can use and then build upon when embarking on their GCSE studies.
